About This Hub

Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), also known as Wold–Chamberlain Field, is a joint military and civil international airport located 10 miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Named after World War I pilots Ernest Groves Wold and Cyrus Foss Chamberlain, the airport was constructed on the former site of the Twin City Speedway. Established in 1920, MSP became the home base for Northwest Airlines in 1926. Following the merger with Delta Air Lines in 2010, MSP has become Delta's second-largest hub. In 2023, MSP handled over 34.7 million passengers, marking an 11% increase from 2022, driven by a significant rebound in international travel.
